Dengue IgG antibody
Dengue · also called Dengue IgG
What it measures
Detects IgG antibodies to dengue virus. Combined with IgM, it helps separate primary from secondary infection, which carries a higher risk of severe dengue.
Specimen and preparation
- Specimen: Serum or plasma
- Tube: Gold top
Reference range
| Group | Range |
|---|---|
| All | Non-reactive |
Reference ranges differ between laboratories, methods and populations. Always use the range printed on your own lab report.
Causes of high values
- Past dengue infection (lifelong)
- Secondary dengue: high IgG early in illness, IgG/IgM ratio > 1.2
- Seroconversion or fourfold rise confirms recent infection
Method
ELISA or rapid immunochromatography
Good to know
In primary infection IgG appears late (around day 10–14); early strong IgG suggests secondary infection.
